Petit Planet characters include the Loomix staff who help establish your planet, Neighbors you encounter and invite, and characters in the Galactic Bazaar. They do not all use the same recruitment or friendship system. Start by identifying the character's role before spending voyage supplies, gifts, or building materials on an assumed unlock route.
The settlement and Bond progression below describes the documented beta system. The Final Beta ended on October 19, 2026, and the game is scheduled to launch on December 4. Character availability, seasonal encounters, and individual requirements may change at release.
The difference between story staff and invited Neighbors

Mobai, Elsasani, and Glenn help you settle into planetary life. Mors and Trixie join through story progression later. In the documented system, these base characters do not consume the Neighbor Capacity used by residents you invite from your travels.
This distinction prevents a common recruitment mistake. Seeing several familiar characters around the campsite does not necessarily mean that you have filled the capacity available for invited residents. Check the game's capacity display instead of counting every character you can see.
Base staff also do not use the normal Bond system described for invited Neighbors. You cannot assume that chatting or handing over a favorite item will unlock the same friendship track for Mobai as it does for Msafiri. Their functions are connected to services and the story.
Outfit editing has an exception: Elsasani can have her outfit changed when she becomes your greeter after the Station is created. That exception should not be extended to every story character simply because their models appear in clothing displays.
Characters who establish your planet
| Character | Role | Why you will interact with them |
|---|---|---|
| Mobai | Life coordinator | Planet growth, settling in, and welcoming residents |
| Elsasani | Starsea racer | Starsea travel, transport, and welcoming Neighbors |
| Glenn | Shopkeeper | Supplies and shopping at Glenn's Goods |
| Mors | Ecologist and Omni-Gallery curator | Building a place for collected creatures |
| Trixie | Newscaster | Updates and events as planetary life develops |
Mobai is the contact for the practical work of turning your new planet into a home. Elsasani supports travel through the Starsea, while Glenn supplies goods. Their usefulness comes from their services rather than an ordinary resident-gift progression.
Mors connects collecting with the Omni-Gallery. Fish, insects, and shore creatures belong to the broader ecology of your planet, so his role matters if your main interest is finding and displaying species. Trixie serves a different need: keeping up with events and changes as your home becomes more developed.
Neighbors with distinct professions

The wider cast has specific occupations and interests. Those roles help identify who you have met, but a profession alone is not a verified favorite-gift list.
| Neighbor | Associated galaxy | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Dorjelang | Hexia | Hatmaker |
| Isaki | Hexia | Battle beetle trainer |
| Manna | Hexia | Action actor and stunt performer |
| Yunguo | Hexia | Cultivator |
| Msafiri | Taffeh | Adventure guide |
| Harpeno | Taffeh | Starsea patrol officer |
| Tika | Taffeh | Agriculture student |
| Medowlyn | Norvan | Plushie designer |
| Rebella | Norvan | Gemsmith |
| Heyu | Hexia | Hot spring innkeeper |
| Frostia | Norvan | Mystic scholar |
| Nerina | Pashah | Composer |
This is a cast reference, not a promise that every listed character is available in every build. Older character profiles can survive changes in the playable roster. Likewise, a character's associated galaxy does not automatically establish the zone containing their latest encounter.
Medowlyn illustrates that distinction. Her background is associated with Norvan, while her documented Final Beta first encounter moved to a Season of Snowfall area in Hexia. Use the current encounter information when planning a voyage; use the role and background to identify the character.
Heyu is another case where availability needs its own check. He is a Seasonal Neighbor. A seasonal calendar and a character profile do not keep a closed test online, nor do they establish that the launch encounter uses the same dates.
How the beta recruitment sequence works
For ordinary invited Neighbors, a first conversation is the beginning of recruitment rather than an immediate move-in invitation. The documented sequence has three main stages.
- Find the character's first Encounter Islet. These appear during Starsea Voyages in the relevant areas. The encounter is random rather than guaranteed whenever you visit a zone.
- Meet the Neighbor a second time. After the introduction, another encounter can happen on an ordinary islet rather than only on the original introduction island.
- Invite a visit and complete the next interaction. A visit commonly includes a mini-quest. After that progression, ask the Neighbor to settle if you have enough capacity.
The first encounter records the character in Starcove at Bond Level 1. The second meeting reaches Bond Level 2 and opens the visit stage. Completing the visit progression commonly raises the Neighbor to Bond Level 3, when settlement becomes available with sufficient Neighbor Capacity.
If you have only met someone once, a missing invitation is therefore not automatically a bug. First establish which recruitment stage you have reached. If the Neighbor has already visited, check whether their request is complete and whether the capacity display allows another resident.
Finding Neighbors after a zone looks complete
Exploring all the visible islets does not guarantee that you have encountered every Neighbor associated with the area. Encounter Islets can appear after the zone seems fully explored.
That is why collection progress and recruitment progress need separate checks. A completed zone display records exploration; it does not establish that every random encounter has occurred. When looking for someone you have never met, watch for new unknown islets rather than assuming the initial map was the complete recruitment pool.
There is no verified encounter probability, guaranteed number of anchors, or universal waiting period to offer. Reports also differ on what triggers a new encounter. Treat additional exploration as a chance to meet someone, not a purchase of a guaranteed character.
Capacity matters when you ask someone to settle. It is not enough evidence to say that a full planet always blocks the first appearance of every new Neighbor. Keep that uncertainty separate from the clear requirement for space at move-in.
Reading Starcove before choosing a gift
Once you have met a Neighbor, Starcove provides an overview of their loves, likes, and dislikes, along with their Journey and Keepsakes. This is more useful for gift decisions than guessing from appearance.
A farmer is not automatically confirmed to love every crop. A character associated with hot springs is not automatically confirmed to love a bathtub. Exact preference fields and direct dialogue should guide the decision, especially when the item costs rare ingredients or substantial currency.
Conversations can also reveal preferences. A Neighbor may mention something at Glenn's Goods that they would like to own. That is a specific request to investigate rather than permission to substitute any broadly similar item.
The beta system allows daily chat and gifting rewards according to server reset. Repeating conversation indefinitely is not the same as repeatedly earning the daily Bond reward. No exact reset hour is established here, so do not plan around an assumed local midnight.
Activities that develop your Bond
Bond progression is broader than gift delivery. The documented activities include chatting, giving a gift, inviting a Neighbor for dinner, completing their Vignettes, helping with decor requests, hanging out, and taking part in daily interactions.
Choose activities that also suit what you want to do. A shared meal gives the visit a different purpose from a short conversation, and decorating a resident's home connects the relationship with your building plans. These activities have their own unlock conditions; meeting the character does not make every option available immediately.
At Bond Level 6, the beta Homi Decor system lets you work on the homes of settled Neighbors. Basic requests concern everyday furnishings such as lighting or kitchen appliances. Wish requests focus on more specific items, including the Neighbor's furniture theme.
This progression means a missing house-decorating option can reflect your relationship stage rather than an inability to decorate the home at all. Check settlement and Bond before looking for a different menu.
Neighbors can accompany your exploration

Settled Neighbors can join Starsea Voyages and help gather materials. Their specialties differ, so traveling with someone is more than a visual choice.
Msafiri's documented specialties include woodcutting and fishing expertise, with mining and bug-catching enthusiasm. His Bond Level 5 talent unlocks a Special Co-op Expedition. Isaki has a different identity built around beetles and beetle battles. Read each character's own profile rather than transferring one talent to the whole cast.
Travel assistance, shared walks, photos, and meals also explain why a roster list alone misses part of the system. The practical question is which activities open as that particular relationship develops.
Bazaar characters have their own roles
Nalo manages Cafe Untamed in the Galactic Bazaar. You can type to speak with her, and the pre-launch presentation describes her responding to your conversation and remembering previous topics.
That does not establish a Starsea recruitment route, a normal residential Bond track, or a way to move her onto your planet. A character can be central to a social location without being an invited resident. If you are looking for Nalo, begin with the Bazaar cafe rather than spending anchors on Neighbor encounter hunting.
Use the same distinction whenever a new face appears: identify the service or location, check whether a resident profile exists, then follow the relevant route. It keeps your next action tied to the character you actually want to meet.
